I though the S8 plus feels slimmer but not by much . It feels lighter too however Note 8 feels more solid in hand . I think anyone happy with s8 plus will be happy with Note 8 size

I am in 2 minds. I think I will wait to see the difference in battery life in real life. I have not had a Note for more than 2 years so as much as I like s pen I am not super keen on it. I am really interested in that camera though

Thanks >500, I'll give that case a look!

The Note8's Infinity Display has certainly left a great impression even on the DisplayMate team:
Galaxy Note 8 screen earns DisplayMate's first-ever A+ grade

There is a lot to like about the Galaxy Note 8, but one part of it has already won an award of sorts. DisplayMate, producers of what's recognized as the best suite of tools for display diagnostics and calibration, has given the Note 8's display their first ever A+ rating, calling it "the most innovative and high-performance smartphone display that we have ever lab tested."

The HW is as expected but I hoped they went with a wide angle lens along with the zoom lens Also, stereo speakers would have been awesome. Anyway a great device, especially when they hype is gone and the prices are slashed

Samsung has done it again, made what is truly the best display on a smartphone! The Note8's display goes up to a gobsmacking 1200 nits! That huge display is going to look incredible under sunlight, and I can only imagine how bright and vivid it goes when set to AMOLED Cinema and Video Enhancer enabled when watching YouTube, Movies etc...

Samsung's Note 8 display sports record-breaking brightness

Samsung just raised the bar in smartphone screens. Again.

A year after DisplayMate awarded the Samsung Galaxy S8's screen its first-ever A+ grade, the screen tester has crowned the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 as the best performing smartphone display, awarding it its top grade as well.  The feature-packed phone, unveiled last week, is Samsung's follow-up to last year's disaster-stricken Galaxy Note 7.

The Note 8 brings a compelling list of advantages, but one of its key selling points is its massive 6.3-inch AMOLED display. And with good reason; the Note 8's display is 22 percent brighter than the Galaxy S8, a "noticeable and major improvement," DisplayMate said in a report released Monday.

The Note 8's screen has a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits (a unit of visible-light intensity) compared with about 1,000-nit peak the Galaxy S8 achieves. By comparison, the iPhone 7 has a peak brightness of 705 nits, according to DisplayMate.

You're saying this with a working demo-unit which probably didn't even leave the store shelf due to being tethered.

Get it outside in your hands under natural sunlight - camera pics and screen to really know.

That said I'm VERY surprised the dual camera didn't show up in the S8+ to directly compete with many others and iPhone 7Plus. Odd strategy by Samsung here.

I figure all phones late 2017 early 2018 will have a dual camera setup. You see LG was right doing this first; maybe not with 3D.

It is possible to decide if a screen or a camera are great without using the phone outside. I had the phone in my hands for 15-20 minutes and was impressed by it.

Just as I suspected the secondary camera of Note 8 is really bad ( compared to primary camera)
https://www.theverge.com/2017[....]8/samsung-galaxy-note-8-review

The verge rated it (8.5) much lower than last year note 7 (9.3, if I remember correctly).
LOL, all the things I complained about the note 8 is also listed as Bad Stuffs.

I still don't agree with the size being listed as a negative because the buyers of this phone be are mainly looking for a large phone . I agree about the rest of negatives (shame about the secondary camera but I will keep an eye for other reviews too )

Yet they say "The new Note is the best Note ever".

Anyway, that cover pic on that page is gorgeous!
