The RAM definitely makes a difference. I love how nothing is being closed in the background o my Note8, it just keeps going.

Hey all, first post in about 18 months. Tsepz_GP I saw on Instagram you had your Note 8, i got mine on the 15th too. Fabulous phone. I must admit i was worried at first about the battery but yesterday i managed 4hrs 25 minutes screen on time which included games and the battery was still only at 42% when i went to bed last night.

8 hours? i dont think ive had that much out of a phone battery since SE feature phones. What screen brightness / resolution is yours set to ? Im on about 30% screen brightness with auto adjust turned on, full resolution.

I have come from the Note 4. I missed out on the Note 7 last year for obvious reasons. I ended up buying a replacement battery after 2 years use and then waited for the Note 8. I must admit, after the Note 4, i was tempted to skip another year and wait for the Note 9 simply because after 3 years the Note 4 still did everything i needed it to do, with just the odd hiccup on some demanding apps. Plus the camera of the 8 is now 12mp as opposed to the 16mp in the 4.

Screen Brightness is around 40% and I have set it to AMOLED Cinema.
I do consume a lot of YouTube, my Downloaded Library at some point had 200 videos

The Note 4 was an incredible device and even in 2017 is up there with the best of them. It had OIS, Fingerprint Scanner, QHD Display, Fast Charging etc etc... I can't think of another phone from 2014 that packed as much current tech as the Note 4.

How is everyone finding the 18:9 display aspect ratio? I had a good giggle earlier when watching a YouTube video and seeing that YouTube now has a feature to fill the display, it reminded me of all those people who made fun of the S8 and LG G6 for the Black Bars in videos, what is hilarious is that it seems like every manufacturer is now following LG and Samsung including Apple with the iPhone X also incorporating the 2:1 ratio, there's rumours of Sony possibly making a phone that's 2:1 and now even HTC
https://goo.gl/rKddHT

People spoke as if 18:9 was just going to be a little thing, a fad almost, yet you now have Apple, the most influential tech company also coming in with a phone using this same AR. I must say I love it, the Note8 has great ergonomics, despite it being so large, it hasnt required any major adjustment in how I use my phone.

Erica Griffin did a little comparison of how much of a difference the aspect ratio and smaller bezels have helped make this phone smaller than some +6inch display phones, check out how it stacks up next to the Xperia Z Ultra that had a 6.4inch Display

Wow that difference in size is ridiculous. That's too large, yet it has a similar screen size. The Note 8 feels smaller than the 4, even though the screen is bigger. It's strange but refreshing. I do use a full armoured case on mine though since day one when it came out. I just cannot risk dropping this all glass phone.

I tried video recording for a mountain hike today, incredibly smooth OIS and EIS working together. It makes a good vlogging camera.

It is worth mentioning that because of the different aspect ratio Sony Ultra Z has quite a bit more screen estate than Note 8. That being said the huge bezel didn't help with the total size

Looking forward to seeing what you,put up on Insta from your Note8, I am not great at photography and I usually take pics of random things like cars or where I am at, my poor Note8 is taking Insta Stories and Snapchat stories mostly, lol, but I do love how brilliant the camera is when I do need to take a photo of a particular moment e.g. be it family or friends.

Indeed, the 18:9 aspect ratio is much like a lot of things a give and take situation where you get a device that is far more manageable but you do lose some area especially with a Display that curves, I am so glad the N8’s Display has steeper curves, it has made a lot more flat surface area available compared to S7 Edge and S8 range.
